Dr. Jenny Rose Wilson, DNP, BSN – Scholarship Winner/Speaker
Also known as “Number 2,” Jenny also adds “real world life” to GoToCollegeFree! She is a “Sometimes Speaker” at seminars and workshops –even if through the internet–in sharing her own experiences in raising over $110,000 in scholarships and grants for her undergraduate degree and near the same for her doctorate degree in nursing practice. She is a lively and engaging speaker in her own right. In her GoToCollegeFree! presentations, she shares her “How-To” scholarships/grants search experience and explains how her volunteer experiences actually opened up NUMEROUS doors and opportunities to her future. Her “scholarshipped life” included traveling around the U.S. and the world during summers, performing her music in China, Thailand, Middle East and Europe, becoming fluent in Mandarin and engaging with numerous foreign cultures–while other classmates had to work jobs in their local communities during summer breaks. Her talks include explaining how to leverage scholarship pursuits toward travel to and learning in other countries.
Jenny attended Woodinville High School in Woodinville, Washington and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Seattle Pacific University. She worked as a Labor & Delivery Nurse at the University of Washington Medical Center for several years before entering the doctor in nursing practice program at the University of Washington Nursing School (often ranked the number 1 Nursing School in the U.S.). She graduated debt-free in 2014. She is fluent (Level 3) in Mandarin and a regular visitor to the Far East. Her original plans to work indefinitely as a midwife in Western Asia has changed at least temporarily as she joined the Neighborcare Health midwifery team where she serves largely underserved new immigrant and refugee Somali and muslim populations. She is also developing healthcare relationships in The Gambia in west Africa.
In her spare time, she is a talented songwriter-vocalist, performer and recording artist. She has finished three CD’s, working now on her 4th, and is skilled in violin, viola, piano and guitar. As a shameless plug…you can download her music on iTunes which directly supports her efforts in Western Asia and Africa.
Finally…she’s a LOT OF FUN and has a great sense of humor!
